About

DaBoyDame is a powerhouse producer and orchestrator whose hands and ears can be felt across the music industry. Currently the Head of A&R at Yo Gotti’s CMG Record label, he’s also an artist in his own right — having been responsible for several smash hit songs in the 2010s, and currently crafting projects to share with the world that explain his creativity. Also coming off Executive Producing Yo Gotti’s most recent and highest charting CM10 album and signing West Coast heavy weight Mozzy to CMG Records. He’s been around for a short while and continuously redefines the public perception due to what he does for the artists that he works with — all while remaining intensely dedicated to a mission: hard work succeeds over everything.

Hailing from Oakland, California, DaBoyDame delved into musiwc at a young age. He gmozzyrew up watching his uncle, who worked locally as a DJ. DaBoyDame fell in love with the process of playing songs publicly and watching people have an emotional release to them. As a youth, DaBoyDame also spent a lot of time outside with friends, guessing what songs were playing by hearing pieces of the song playing in car stereos coming from up the block. These seemingly disparate musical experiences would come together to push DaBoyDame to pursue a musical career.

DaBoyDame’s journey started with the creation of mixtapes from limewire and napster. He became known in his neighborhood for developing his own style of mixes that incorporated not just hot songs of the moment, but also old school songs and songs specifically chosen that he believed the hustlers, gangstas and women would love. From there, he started studying the craft of perfecting the skill of DJing while interning for local radio station 106 KMEL through legends of the Bay Area Chuy Gomez, Mind Motion and Big Von. While interning he also attended and eventually graduated from Clark Atlanta University where he expanded his musical knowledge and established industry relationships with fellow CAU students who eventually became industry executive heavyweights as well.

When he was at the radio station, that’s when DaBoyDame’s feelers began to go out. Throughout his five years at the station, he began working with different artists who would come through Oakland and San Francisco, developing genuine relationships that would lead to real music industry success. This is how he ended up meeting platinum rapper Yo Gotti who invited him to the studio to connect with him. Their first ever session resulted in the 2013 smash hit “Act Right” that featured Jeezy and YG.

The success of the song led to the establishment of DaBoyDame as someone with an ear to make great music. Yo Gotti quickly invited him to be his personal A&R soon after and throughout the last eight years. During this time he discovered, introduced or played a part in a number of high profile artists such as Dej Loaf & Kamaiyah — around the industry, DaBoyDame is known as the person who first recognized their talent.

Throughout the later 2010s, DaBoyDame’s musical contributions made a true impact in pop culture. He released the songs “Do Ya” with Ty Dolla $ign, Adrian Marcel, and Eric Bellinger, as well as “Double Up” with Blac Youngsta and Mozzy, providing the streets with authentic and carefully crafted storytelling that doubled as excellent music. DaBoyDame would release his first album, Can’t Fake The Real, which was a collaboration between Blac Youngsta and Mozzy in 2017. The following year, he’d release the hit single “Dreams” with Yo Goti, G-Eazy, and Dej Loaf which would ultimately go viral.

With DaBoyDame’s ear and work ethic proven through past work, it’s no wonder that he’d sign a record deal with Def Jam Recordings to further establish himself as a one-of-a-kind producer. He signed due to the powerful legacy of the record label — something that he wishes to make a meteor-sized impact in with his growing catalog.

He’s readying a new release called Salute to the Real, Pray for the Fake, that finds inspiration in a tattoo that he received in 2012. But it’s about more than dried ink — it’s also about the legacy and name that he’s established for himself so far. In an industry full of scammers and double crossers, DaBoyDame built everything brick-by-brick, maintaining stellar relationships with everyone, and making sure to put forth authenticity as he continues to build his brand. DaBoyDame wants the album to be the full showcase of his A&Ring potential — for it to show why he’s been favorably compared to DJ Khaled & DJ Drama for his hit-making and street connecting capabilities.

DaBoyDame’s next leg of his career combines every aspect of what he’s known for musically, and he’s ready to show why artists like 42 Dugg, EST Gee, and Moneybagg Yo all vouch for his ear. He’s not only connected to the Bay Area’s legends, such as E-40, but he’s also an integral figure in the new class of musicians such as Saweetie. He’s a child of DJ Khaled and DJ Drama, determined to create real and true music that speaks volumes to the real and true people of the world.
